President U Htin Kyaw visits Sao San Htun Hospital radiation department

President U Htin Kyaw views radiation equipment at Sao San Htun Hospital.

President U Htin Kyaw visited the Radiation Therapy Department in the Sao San Htun Hospital, Taunggyi, in Southern Shan State yesterday morning to inspect new therapeutic machines and treatments provided.
The President was greeted by the hospital’s medical superintendent, specialists and staff.
The President also visited the Radiation Therapy Department and was shown new radiation treatment equipment as Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe, Department of Medical Services Director General Dr Myint Han, Medical Superintendent Dr. Soe Tun Aung and Cancer Ward Specialist (Radiation) explained how the equipment operated.
The President met with trainees from the Nursing Training School (Taunggyi) and Head of Training School Daw Nwe Nwe Cho described subjects taught at the institution and the status of the trainees. During the meeting, the President offered encouragement. The Sao San Htun Hospital radiation department provides radiation treatment to about 50 cancer patients daily. It is a 500-bed hospital situated on a 29.664 acres of land and has 14 wards including out-patient, emergency, treatment, surgery, orthopaedic, ophthalmology, ENT (ear, nose and throat), dentistry, maxillofacial, oncology, narcotic drugs and psychiatric, radiation therapy, rheumatology and rehabilitation and dermatology. The President was accompanied on his visit by Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Nai Thet Lwin and Shan State Chief Minister Dr. Linn Htut.
