President U Htin Kyaw attended a tree-growing ceremony of National Environmental Greening Campaign organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Accompanied by Vice-President U Myint Swe, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than, the Union ministers, the Auditor-General of the Union, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar and officials, the President planted a teak tree at Block-16 of Po Zaung Taung forest reserve on Nay Pyi Taw-Tatkon No (1) road.
According to sources, monsoon tree plantation ceremonies for 2016 were held 500 times in regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, with 120,000 participants planting 350,000 tree saplings.
So far around 43.5million saplings have been planted during the 2016 National Environmental Greening Campaign that aims to plant 58 million saplings across the country.—Myanmar News Agency
