President U Htin Kyaw laid a wreath in honor of Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulayadej in Bangkok yesterday at a royal ceremony to mourn over the passing of the monarch.
At the ceremony at the Grand Palace, the president signed the book of condolence opened for the late king.
President U Htin Kyaw left Nay Pyi Taw for Bangkok yesterday morning to attend the solemn ceremony. He was welcomed at Suvannabhumi Airport by Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Dr Somkid Jatusripitak, officials of the Foreign Ministry of Thailand, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Win Maung
After attending the ceremony, President U Htin Kyaw visited a building currently under construction that will become the new Myanmar Embassy.
At the embassy, he met with staff and greeted Myanmar nationals applying for passports.
Before returning to Myanmar, President U Htin Kyaw visited the Anti-Corruption Museum in Bangkok. The president was welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe and officials of the Thailand embassy in Yangon.— Myanmar News Agency
