PRESIDENT U Htin Kyaw left Yangon yesterday to attend the 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The President was seen off at Yangon International Airport by Vice President U Henry Van Thio, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and officials.
The 11th Asia-Europe Meeting hosted by Mongolia coincides with the 20th Anniversary of the ASEM launched in 1996 with its inaugural summit in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the 11th ASEM Summit, Myanmar will serve as the coordinators on the Asian side while New Zealand will act as the coordinator on the European side.The Summit, being held as the ASEM turns 20 years old this year, is aimed at creating opportunities in Asia and Europe and laying down foundations for future development, sources said.—Myanmar News Agency
