President U Htin Kyaw and First Lady attend opening ceremony of new MES office and technical library

President U Htin Kyaw and First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin visit the office of Myanmar Engineering Society.

President U Htin Kyaw and First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin attended the opening ceremonies of the new office of Myanmar Engineering Society (Nay Pyi Taw) and technical library yesterday in front of that building in Zawwana Ward, Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
The ceremony was also attended by Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw Mahn Win Khaing Than, Chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal U Myo Nyunt, Union Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein, Union Ministers Maj-Gen Sein Win, Maj-Gen Ye Aung, U Khin Maung Cho and U Win Khaing, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr Myo Aung, Deputy Ministers, representatives of parliament, departmental heads, Chairman of Myanmar Engineering Council, Chairman and members of MES, donors, invited guests and official concerned.
First Union Ministers U Khin Maung Cho and U Win Khaing, MP U Tin Maung Win, patron of Myanmar Engineering Council(MEC) U Aye Myint, Chairman of MEC Dr. Charlie Than, Chairman of Myanmar Engineering Society U Aung Myint and Chairman of Myanmar Engineering Society (Nay Pyi Taw) U Win Naing formally cut the ribbon to open the ceremony. And then Union Ministers U Khin Maung Cho and U Win Khaing and the Chairman of Myanmar Engineering Society planted a star-flower tree.
Next, the President formally unveiled the signboard of the building by pressing the button and sprinkling it with scented water.
Then Deputy Minister U Kyaw Lin, Director-General U Kyaw Myint Hlaing and MPRL E&P General Manager U Myo Tin on behalf of the donor cut the ribbon to open the technical library.
The President and the First Lady and guests went around the library.
At the ceremony Union Minister U Win Khaing, the Patron of MEC and MES, said today’s developed countries have become industrialized countries through engineering innovation.
He went on to say that engineering played the most important part nowadays at a time when smart cities were being developed around the world. And then Chairman of MES (Nay Pyi Taw) U Win Naing explained about the society office; and other two engineers the benefits and programmes of the society.
Next the Union Minister gave a souvenir to the President.
The Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw accompanied by the guests then went around the office of the MES and the exhibition booths of the Ministries of Industry, Construction and Electricity and Energy, the Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management and the Department of Agricultural Mechanization and companies after which the ceremony concluded.
The office of the MES(Nay Pyi Taw) and technical library is a two-storey RC building standing on two acres of land in Zawwana Word, Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
The first association of engineering of Myanmar by the name Burmar Engineering Congress was formed in 1916. It was closed in 1963.
MES was reformed at the Yangon Technology University in 1995.
