President U Thein Sein on Monday met a Japanese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mr Taro Aso at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss bilateral relations.
The meeting focused on Japan’s assistance to Myanmar’s transition to democracy, the prompt implementation of projects in Thilawa Special Economic Zone and cooperation and development projects such as building schools, supplying clean water and providing healthcare services in flood-affected regions.
Views were also exchanged on further collaboration in the banking and financial sectors, Myanmar’s nationwide ceasefire agreement and holding a free and fair general election in November.
