Nay Pyi Taw, 23 Aug — President U Thein Sein spoke about people’s suffering from flesh flooding in all regions and states except one region and two states as of mid-July 2015, at a meeting with local residents to rehabilitate the Kalay region at the city hall in Kalay on Sunday.
The president explained the assistance being provided by the government for rehabilitation of the flood victims and plans to cover the basic needs of flood victims in Kalay district.
Chief Minister of Sagaing Region U Tha Aye reported on plans to carry out rehabilitation of flood victims and flood-affected areas as well as prevention of natural disasters in the region.
The president presented 36 items of relief and rehabilitation equipment for Cikon village, basic foodstuffs and clothes for HsedawU village, instant foods for Htoma village and working equipment for Natchaung village as well as K2.5 million cash assistance for staff of Kalay University through officials.
The chief minister accepted JCB heavy machinery, computers, printers, science lab equipment, library materials and band equipment donated by Alliance Star Group Company and MPRL oil company. Representatives of union ministers U Myint Hlaing, U Khin Maung Soe, U Win Tun, U Win Myint, U Ohn Myint and well-wisher U Moe Myint donated 100 bags of rice worth K2.7 million for staff of Kalay General Hospital through the medical superintendent.
The president cordially greeted the attendees at the meeting. MNA
