President, JPN FM hold talks over founding of Japan-Myanmar Joint Initiative

PRESIDENT U HtinKyaw received Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Fumio Kishida at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday where the two discussed the formation of a Japan-Myanmar Joint Initiative.
The two further discussed matters regarding democratic reform measures being carried out, the providing of assistance to aid the enforcement of the rule of law, Japan’s continuation to be involved in the development process as a development partner, the providing of assistance in the creation of a monetary market, financial market and job opportunities, Japan’s continuous investment in theThilawa Special Economic Zone and a host of other issues.
The meeting was also attended by Union ministers U Thant Zin Maung and Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin and the Japanese ambassador to Myanmar.— Myanmar News Agency
