Police launch investigation into bus attack

YANGON police have launched an investigation to identify the group of unidentified men who attacked the Parami 174 Bus line at a Tamway traffic stop in Bahan Township on Monday.
Six unidentified men in a vehicle apparently blocked the bus at the traffic lights before attacking the bus driver and conductor with iron rods. The bus driver and conductors had earlier got into an argument with a man driving Honda Insight (2J/—), which tried to overtake the bus at 8-mile junction, according to the police.
The driver of the Honda and about five other people boarded the bus and assaulted the driver and conductor with iron rods. When the bus driver and conductors fled they smashed the front and back windshields and windows of the bus.
One female passenger fainted due to shock and another was injured as she tried to flee the assault.—Zaw Gyi (Panita)
