Farmers from Phwaotkway Village in Pobbathiri Township are in the process of preparing maize to be sold at upcoming markets in Pyinmana and Tatkon.
Farmer U Thein Htay Aung said he has cultivated three acres of corn in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area since late May. He said that a bag of corn seedlings costs K23,000 kyats and is enough to cover an acre. After harvesting, he uses machines to dry the corn and turn it into maize.
He says that he goes to sell the produce to nearby townships and that sometimes brokers might come to his house to purchase the maize. As well as selling the corn at markets, he also sells his produce to brokers  at an average price of K10,000 per 33.3kg basket.
