THE Myanmar Pharmaceutical Factory (MPF) (Insein) will produce medicines with a new MPF Logo and Film Coated drugs in order to aid the prevention of fake drug peddling. The new logo and design will be delivered to the market soon.
The drugs, which are administered for nervous weakness, pneumonia and lung diseases, inflammation of the throat, urinary tract infections, and tonsillitis will be produced under the MPF brand. Moreover, two antivenom tablets, which are administered for cobra and viper bites, will be produced in a freeze-dried form to last for five years.
The freeze-dried form can be stored even at room temperature. It can be kept for emergency use in rural areas without electricity.
MPF anti-venom tablets were produced in 1962. A new building where antidotes for snakebites will be manufactured has been completed under WHO GMP guidelines. In the 2016-2017 FY the factory will produce around 100,000 antivenom medicine batches.
