Paritta Recitation Ceremony held at Presidential Palace

The Paritta Recitation Ceremony for the 1379 Myanmar Era was held at Ngushwewar Hall of the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning, with President U Htin Kyaw, First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in attendance.
The congregation led by President U Htin Kyaw took the Nine Precepts from Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kavisara. The members of the Sangha recited the Parittas and the President and his congregation listened to the Parittas recited by the monks. Then, the President and wife, the State Counsellor and congregation donated offertories to the members of the Sangha.
Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kavisara delivered a sermon, followed by sharing the merits gained. After the ceremony, President U Htin Kyaw and First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin, the State Counsellor and the congregation offered meals to the members of the Sangha.
Also present on the occasion were Pyinmana Maha Withutayama Zaygon Monastery Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Kavisara and members of the Sangha, Vice President U Myint Swe and wife, Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U Win Myint, Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo, Chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Union U Myo Nyunt and spouse, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein and wife, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife and the Union Ministers and their wives.—Myanmar News Agency
