Orchestra for Myanmar to perform in March

THE Orchestra for Myanmar, led by founder-director Sebastian See-Schierenberg and associate director Saw James Hsar Doe Soe, will launch its second year of performances and training hosted by the British Council next month.
The orchestra will be joined by special guests and soloists from Spain, Taiwan and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and the orchestra’s first concert will be presented by Susana Galvan from the British Council.
Musicians from the AOC, the Gitameit music centre, MIT, the National Symphony Orchestra, the University of Arts and Culture and the Amae Gita music school will participate in the concert.
The New Children’s Choir, led by American choir director Rebekka Jensen, will also make its debut. The choir is made up of young children from schools and orphanages around Yangon and has undergone two months of recruitment and singing workshops. The choir will perform a selection of music from all over the world, including famous Myanmar songs.
The concert will be held at 7pm on 11 March in the Strand Hotel Ballroom.
