THE Office of the Auditor General of the Union launched an accounting and auditing event in Yangon yesterday as part of the first phase of its 100-day plan.
The event attracted the wife of President U Htin Kyaw, union ministers, the auditor general of the Union and the Patron of the National League for Democracy Thura U Tin Oo.
Auditor General U Maw Than said that the event was aimed at raising awareness of the accounting and auditing standards and procedures set for the country’s certified public accountants. The auditor general described the auditing and accounting standards as the lifeblood for national development, stressing that correct financial reports would be a major attraction for a massive influx of foreign investors.
NLD’s Patron Thura U Tin Oo and Myanmar Accountancy Council’s member U Win Thin spoke on the occasion.
Specialists will give talks on accounting criteria of state-owned assets and private sectors, accounting ethics and the Yangon Stock Exchange at the event, which continues today.
