New sport center to be constructed in Bago Region

Regional authorities in Bago Region plan to build a new sports center this FY, according to the region Sports and Physical Education Department.
The Regional government plan to build the facility at a cost of Ks1.5 billion (US$1.2m). There are plans to construct new sports centers in 16 townships and upgrade current sporting grounds.
Recently, efforts to promote a sporting culture in Myanmar has been exerted through funding and construction of facilities while promoting the past time in state media.
Local construction companies have been invited to assist the government. The partner will be selected by July with construction expected to begin in August.
A large gymnasium is to be built in Daik-U Township. The middle sport centers will be established in Nyaunglebin, Zigon and Letpadan townships. Smaller facilities are to be constructed in Bago, Shwegyin, Yedashe, Oktwin, Nattalin, Gyobingauk, Pyay, Thegon and Paungde townships. There is no regional sport ground in Bago, the capital of Bago Region.
The region has turned out nearly 40 national level athletes in different sports including football, track and field, volleyball, tennis, boxing, etc.—200
