A NEW Myanmar Aquariums centre is being constructed  on Natmauk Road by Royal Lake  in Yangon. The aquarium, designed by Singapore’s Surbana,  is being built by the Department of Fisheries and the Myanmar Aquariums Company Ltd with the approval of Yangon regional government.
The site is located on a five acre plot with construction beginning in  2014. The site employs over  100 construction workers including engineers from abroad. The  new international  two-and-a- half-story aquarium will showcase salt and seawater fish, according to a DF official.  The fish will be sourced from abroad as well as locally. The old aquarium had only fresh water fish.
The new aquariums will be able to accommodate over 3000 visitors a day.
