New highway terminal in Thanbyuzayat to launch in March

A NEW highway terminal in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State is scheduled to be officially launched in March, according to the township development committee.
“We put in more effort to open the newly-established terminal on Mon State Day which falls on 19 March,” a spokesperson of the committee said.
The construction of the new highway terminal was initiated in August last year with construction finishing in January of this year.
With the aim of reducing traffic congestion in the township the project was implemented at a cost of early K8 million funded by the government. Kaungsuaye Co. constructed the terminal on 4.5 acres of land, which allows about 20 bus lines to operate.
Thanbyuzayat Township normally sees bus lines operated on the Yangon-Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw route. In the past, all highway buses stopped beside and along the highway road as there was no highway terminal in the township.
After celebrating the official opening of the new bus terminal the authorities will allow all bus lines to stop only within the compound of the terminal.—Mudon Maung Maung
