PUBLIC Bus Co will add new buses for both of its routes with the aim of providing better transportation services to Yangon commuters.
“We plan to add 20 buses imported from foreign countries that will be ready to operate in the second week of May after carrying out the licensing process,” a company spokesperson said.
Each bus can carry over 80 passengers, and bus fare is set at K300 per head for air-conditioned buses.
The BRT buses operate between the hours of 6am and 9pm daily. The company is also adding new bus stops along its routes.
With a fleet of 18 buses imported from China, the company launched services along its first Bus Rapid Transfer (BRT) route on 7 February. The route has 23 stops and runs from Htaunkkyant to Pyay Road and Bogyoke Aung San Road to 8th Mile Junction via Kaba-Aye Pagoda Road.  The second route has 26 stops and runs from Pyay Road to Kaba-Aye Pagoda Road, Bogyoke Aung San Road, Botahtaung Pagoda Road and Strand Road.—200
