An asphalt road stretching 5,400-foot and connecting Yangon-Mandalay Highway with the Shante model village in Meiktila Township of Mandalay Region was completed on 1 September. Construction works began in early July, with the project being financed by the region’s K58 million aid fund. The construction of the road was supervised by the township office for rural development. Locals donated an additional K4.5 million to extend the road to the village’s monastery.
The new road is located on a critical junction to villages in nearby Thazi township and will allow for a smoother transport route for the area’s products to reach Meiktila.
