In preparation for the International U-21 Thanh Niên Newspaper Cup that will be held in Vietnam, the Myanmar U-21 national football team played to a draw against the Myanmar National League (MNL) All-Star team at Thuwunna Stadium yesterday evening.
The match ended with a score of 1-1.
Both teams played equally well from the start, but the opening goal was made by the MNL All-star team. The goal was scored by its star player Emmanuel at the 32-minute mark.
The early goal seemed to have an effect on the Myanmar U-21 team, which began to attack more willingly than before.
The efforts of the Myanmar U-21 team were rewarded with the equalising goal seven minutes later.
The equaliser was scored by Myanmar’s stellar player Zin Min Tun.
Both teams played in a more controlled style in the second half.
Yesterday’s match could be described as a hard fought, but clean match.
Perhaps the Myanmar U-21 team benefited the most, because they had much to learn from playing an experienced, senior team like the MNL All-Stars. The Myanmar U-21 team now goes on to compete in the International U-21 Thanh Niên Newspaper Cup in Vietnam.—Kyaw Zin Lin
