Myanmar, Thailand discuss migrant labour issues

Labour officials from Myanmar and Thailand held talks in Yangon yesterday over issues related to Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand.
The meeting focused on 10 facts including reviewing of the MoU on labour cooperation between the two countries, re-considering the term of staying in Thailand as Thai side is reluctant to accept staying more than 6 years in Thailand as well as issuance of the Certificate of Identity-CI for undocumented Myanmar migrant workers at one stop services in Thailand.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security estimates that over 2.5million Myanmar migrant workers are working in Thailand.
