Myanmar President receives Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister

President U Htin Kyaw yesterday received the delegation led by Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on anti-corruption, tax evasion which could potentially have a negative impact on the nation’s development, the role of private entrepreneurs for economic development, the correct amount of electricity utilized for business purposes, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises that are essential for the nation’s development, efforts to improve the economy via the tourism industry and the bilateral cooperation for trade and investment.
The President was accompanied by Union Ministers, U Thant Sin Maung, U Thein Swe, Dr Myo Thein Gyi, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin.  The Singapore delegation was led by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, accompanied by Singapore’s Ambassador to Myanmar, Mr. Robert Chua. After the meeting, the two parties signed the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of Singapore Myanmar Vocational Training Institute. During the event, Dr Aye Myint, Director General of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Mr Robert Chua, the Ambassador of Singapore to Myanmar, signed and handed over the MoU in the presence of the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and the delegation will visit Myanmar from 14 March to 16 March.—Myanmar News Agency
