Myanmar navy rescues 102 Bengalis

Nay Pyi Taw, 13 July — Myanmar navy boats have recently rescued a total of 102 Bengalis from an islet near Kawthoung Township in the southernmost region of Taninthayi, the government said Monday.
An investigation has found all of the Bengali men, rescued between 30 June and 12 July, were from neighbouring Bangladesh. Some said they were forcibly taken from their country, while others reported having been enticed by human traffickers to work in Malaysia. They were left on the small islet in Myanmar territory in early June.
The navy is searching the areas for more Bengalis and the victims will be sent back to their home country. Myawady
