Myanmar national team approaches Sheffield Utd U-21 Kler Heh

Yangon, 19 Aug — The Myanmar Football Federation has approached Sheffield United U-21 talent Kler Heh about playing for the national team, MFF media director U Soe Moe Kyaw said Wednesday.
A member of the Kayin ethnic group, Kler Heh was born in a refugee camp at the Myanmar-Thai border. His family was resettled in Sheffield, England, in 2006.
“He replied to us he would like to represent Myanmar in football after coordinating with his family members and his agent,” U Soe Moe Kyaw told the Global New Light of Myanmar. “We have many steps for him to join Myanmar national team.”
The 19-year-old, who can play as a defender and a winger, signed a two-year deal with Sheffield United in 2013 and later a one-year extension.
Former Myanmar football captain U Soe Myat Min said the rising star would be an asset to the national side.
“If he (Kler Heh) joins us, the Myanmar national team will be stronger,” U Soe Myat Min said.
Kler Heh previously expressed his desire to play for the Myanmar national team in a Facebook post and in an interview with the United Kingdom’s Guardian newspaper.—GNLM
