Myanmar, Japan focus on development of Thilawa, Dawei SEZs

President U Thein Sein cordially greets Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Special Envoy of Government of Japan and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation and Sasakawa Foundation.

President U Thein Sein received a delegation led by Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar, at the hall of the Presidential Palace, here, Tuesday.
The president and Mr Sasakawa, who is Chairman of the Nippon Foundation and Sasakawa Foundation, discussed improvement of education and human resources, development of the Thilawa and Dawei Special Economic Zones, development of border regions and the peacemaking process.
Also present at the talks were Union Ministers Lt-Gen Wai Lwin, Lt-Gen Thet Naing Win, U Soe Thane, Dr Daw Khin San Yi and Dr Than Aung, deputy minister U Thant Kyaw and officials.
The Japanese delegation was accompanied by Admiral Dennis Blair, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Sasakawa-USA and former U.S. Director of National Intelligence, and former general Shigeru Iwasaki, special adviser to the Japanese Ministry of Defence.
