Myanmar Hotels receive ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2016

Eight hotels from Myanmar won the ASEAN Green Hotel Award-2016.
The award was handed over on 22nd January during the Awarding Ceremony at the Mindanao Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Place in Manila. The resort was nominated by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism to receive the prestigious Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Green Hotel Award at the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Manila.
89 hotels and resorts received the ASEAN Green Hotel Award, eight hotels– Amazing Bagan Resort, Amara Ocean Resort, Bagan Thande Hotel (Old Bagan), Bayview-The Beach Resort, Blue Bird Hotel, Grand Andaman Hotel, Hotel Shwe Pyi Thar, Kempinski –NayPyiTaw– are from Myanmar.
“ This award is a great appreciation for our efforts to promote sustainable and green tourism in Ngapali. Furthermore it is also a mandate for us hotels to preserve the beauty of Ngapali Beach ”, said Patrick Peukert, General Manager of Bayview – the beach resort. Mr Peukert has worked with the resort since 2012 and led it to one of the most prominent resorts at Ngapali Beach.
Bayview – the beach resort is a four star boutique hotel. It is located on the idyllic Ngapali Beach in Myanmar’s Rakhine State — its coastline forms part of the Bay of Bengal. The resorts’ 45 deluxe bungalows and rooms including suites are all situated either directly at the beach or in a beautiful exotic garden under countless palm trees.
The award winning resort has two restaurants and offers a wide range of sport activities, a Spa with traditional and Western treatments, as well as guided tours with its hotel bus and boat.—Lin Aung Htet
