Myanmar Energy Master Plan Unveiled

THE government has been making efforts to ensure energy sufficiency by the employment of various means, said Vice President U Nyan Tun at National Energy Management Committee meeting 1/2016 held on 8th January in Nay Pyi Taw.
He remarked that it is of utmost importance to promote the production of energy, to reduce and finally do away with losses and wastages and to reserve the environment for future generations. In this function, the government has already formulated a national energy policy to be able to supply energy in a sustainable manner. This policy is based on international expert opinion and the government has laid down a national energy supply strategy on the basis of local and international contexts.
Minister for Energy U Zayyar Aung explained that the Myanmar Energy Master Plan drawn up by the Asia Development Bank is formulated in consideration of the Myanmar economy, the form of energy use, the availability of energy resources and future requirements.
The Myanmar Energy Master Plan was read out by ADB Director Mr Chong Chi Nai.—Myanmar News Agency
