Myanmar attends UNEA-2 in Nairobi

A MYANMAR delegation led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win attended the second session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-2) in Nairobi, Kenya, on 23-27 May.
While addressing the UNEA-2, the Union minister vowed to follow up with the international community on environmental conservation, saying the country has prioritised the sector as part of Myanmar’s national development programme.
The Union minister also expressed Myanmar’s full support and commitment to regional cooperation for the Hindu Kush Himalayan Partnership for sustainable mountain development at a ministerial panel discussion held on the side-lines of the UNEA-2.
During a high-level meeting on illegal trade in wildlife and wildlife products, the Union minister vowed to cooperate with regional and international organisations in the fight against wildlife crimes.—Myanmar News Agency
