Mr Jean-Marc Ayrault, Former PM and Longest serving MP and FM currently as of France

Born on 25 January, 1950, Mr Jean-Marc Ayrault obtained a secondary school teaching diploma and a bachelor’s degree, majoring in German. Formerly, he was a teacher of German. He has been a member of Polit Buro of the Socialst Party since 1979. He became the chairman of Socialist Group in the National Assembly between 1997 and 2012.
Concerning his elective positions, he was a member of the Loire-Atlantique County Assembly from 1976 to 1987. He served as Mayor of Saint-Herblain (Loire-Atlantique County) from 1977 to 2012, as Chairman of the Nantes Urban Area District from 1992 to 2012, and was an MP from 1986 to 2012 and from 2014 to 2016. He also served as the Prime Minister from May 2012 to March 2014. Since 11 February, 2016, Mr Jean-Marc Ayrault has been serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development. He is married, with two children.
He is noted for his support for presidential contender Mr Francois Hollande in the latter’s election. While he was serving as the premier, Mr Jean-Marc Ayrault directed his effort to national development. During his premiership, he led his cabinet to reduce the pensionable age from 62 to 60, to handle properly the labour issues, to revise the minimum wage for workers, to cut the ministers’ salaries by 30 per cent, to increase education stipend for low-income families and to promote free health care etc.
