MPs discuss Union’s supplementary budget 2015-16

THE Union’s supplementary budget allotment for 2015-16 was discussed at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw yesterday, with deputy ministers and officials making statements.
In connection with the announcement of a notification for the establishment of the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone project, Deputy Minister for Rail Transportation U Myint Thein said that the Kyaukphyu SEZ would be set up on 4,289 acres of land and would include a deep-sea port project, an industrial zone project and a housing estate project.
A team has been founded to monitor the possible social, economic and environmental impacts the construction might have on the area, the deputy minister said.
MPs also discussed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in tourism by Myanmar with ASEAN countries, China, Japan and South Korea, which received parliamentary approval.—Myanmar News Agency
