MoU signed for Collaborative Development of Communication Sector

The Ministry of Information of Myanmar and the Ministry of  Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation signed yesterday a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of mass communications between the two countries.
According to the MoU which was signed at the Ministry of Information yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw, the two countries, agreed to contribute to  the creation of  favourable conditions for a broad and free dissemination of information, to facilite wide and free exchange of information between information agencies and the editorial offices of the  mass media, to support and encourage mutually beneficial cooperation between the editorial offices of the  mass media, to promote the equitable and mutually beneficial cooperation between professional organizations of journalism, to provide  assistance in the organization of the broadcast of television and radio programs, to facilitate accredited representatives of the mass media editorial offices on the basis of reciprocity, to encourage exchange of  experts in the  field of broadcasting, print media, scientific and technical fields related to information, to provide mutual assistance in the training of personnel in the field of mass media and to encourage cooperation between educational and research institutions and organizations, to cooperate and exchange experiences in the field of legal regulation of  the  mass media and to  create favourable conditions for  the work in the mass media field.
In the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister for Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation H.E Mr. Alesky K. Volin and Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung of the Ministry of Information signed the MoU and exchanged notes.
Afterwards Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and Russian Deputy Minister Mr. Alesky K. Volin delivered key notes addresses and took documentary photos with all participants.
The Russian Deputy Minister and his entourage then met with members of the press.
Following the event, the Russian Deputy Minister and his entourage held talks with officials of Myanma Radio and Television and the News and Periodicals Enterprise over collaboration between the two countries’ media sectors.— Myanmar News Agency
Earlier in the day, Union Minister Dr Pe Myint and Russian Deputy Minister H.E Mr. Aleksey K. Volin met in the Main Hall of Union Minster Building in Nay Pyi Taw.—Myanmar News Agency
