MJA announces winners of National Press Awards

Yangon, 31 May — The Myanmar Journalist Association (MJA) on Sunday announced the winners of its third National Press Awards in four categories.
The News Hero award went to Pho Thaukkyar (Khit+Moe), a veteran journalist, and the Press Cartoonist award to U Shwe Htoo (Pyay). U Soe Zeyar Tun and the Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) won the Press Photojournalist award and the Press Broadcaster award respectively.
Union Minister for Information U Ye Htut delivered an opening speech at the awards event.
MJA organized its first awards ceremony on 18 March 2012 and the second on 3 May the following year.
The National Press Awards Committee was formed on 11 April 2015. According to the committee, the “National News Hero Award” was a brand new category.—MNA
