Ministries, UNFPA provide disaster relief supplies

Nay Pyi Taw, 4 Aug—Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Phone Swe, secretary of the National Disaster Preparedness Central Committee, accepted two bales of clothes and cash for flood victims, here, Monday.
Well-wishers also donated K2.685 million and various relief supplies for flood victims to the Yangon Region Department of Relief and Resettlement from 29 July to 2 August.
Sagaing Region Social Welfare Department provided kits for women donated by the UNFPA to flood victims in Ayadaw, Kanbalu, Kyunhla, YeU, Budalin, Kawlin and Salingyi townships.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement had delivered K160 million worth of rice, emergency foods and construction materials, including compensation for 46 dead persons, to more than 230,000 flood victims in six regions and six states as of Monday.
The ministry of border affairs distributed relief supplies and cash K11.8 million in total to flood victims in Sagaing and Magwag regions, Rakhine, Mon and Kayin states. The ministry has provided K93.457 million to the people.
Rehabilitation of Rakhine State ravaged by flood is being undertaken through K3.216 billion from the special fund of the president.—MNA
