Millennium anniversary of Laungshe Township to be celebrated

Laungshe Township is approaching the time of its millennium anniversary very soon according to historical documentation. So, the local people are planning to celebrate this anniversary.
“There were so many pagodas built by ancient Myanmar Kings, located in Saw Township, Gangaw District” said one of the trustees of Mya Marlar Pagoda.
At this ceremony, listening to religious sermons, offering food to the monks, joyful entertainment, publishing a commemorative magazine will be included. In addition, monuments which have four faces that are carved with the names of the headmen of the village through history are being built for the anniversary and the exhibition of cultural icons will also be included.
“For the purpose of getting to know the national dignity and to embrace the history of the township for today’s youths this is a cause for celebration” said U Saw Min Naing, secretary of organizing committee.
Laungshe Village is twelve miles south of Saw Township. In the past, it was difficult to reach it in the rainy season but today the Gangaw-Htilin-Saw-Laungshe-Ngape-Sidoktaya route or the Chauk-Seikphyu-Saw-Laungshe route or the Pakokku-Pauk-Kyaukhtu-Saw-Laungshe route can easily be used to reach Laungshe. —MDN
