Military helicopter crash kills three service personnel

An Mi-2 military helicopter crashed yesterday in the jungle near Daik-U, Bago  Region. Roughly 120 kms north east of Yangon, killing the three military personnel on board.
According to the Ministry of Defence the helicopter crashed on route to Hmawbi, blaming poor weather conditions for the crash.
The aircraft, which received heavy maintenance at Meikhtila Air Base left at 8.40 am yesterday and landed at Taungoo Air Base to refill fuel before it was meant to proceed to Hmawbi. The MI-2 was meant to eventually head to Myeik Air Base, in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi region. A major, a captain and a sergeant were confirmed dead on site. Responsible Tatmadaw personnel inspected the crash site.— Myanmar News Agency
