Medical teams from the Ministry of Health and the Tatmadaw have been providing medical care to patients suffering from the flu at Dagar Village in Naga Self-Administrative Zone following five deaths from the viral disease.
The medical team disclosed yesterday that the patients suffered from high fever due to malnutrition, a weakness in personal hygiene and lack of immediate medical care. The medical team said there was no outbreak of infectious disease.
A local resident told Nanyun People’s Hospital on 29 September that about 300 villagers were suffering from fever, headaches, coughing and blisters on their skin.
A medical team from the hospital went to the area the next day and provided medical care.
On 4 October, a combined medical team from the Tatmadaw joined the team from the hospital.
So far, 146 patients—60 men and 86 women—have received medical care.
