Matriculated and middle school passers appointed as contract teachers in remote areas

LOCAL matriculated people aged between 18 and 25 have been appointed as contract teachers in remote areas in cases where no applications for the posts by graduates were received.
They will be appointed permanent positions after graduation, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi told the Amyotha Hluttaw yesterday.
If no applications were received from graduates or matriculated persons, those aged between 18 and 25 who completed the middle school have been appointed to the positions in accordance with the recommendation of the Region/State government, added the Union minister.
Regarding transfers and promotions the Union minister said that the Basic Education Department is responsible for deciding on transfers or promotions for middle school heads and above while the region/state education officer’s office is responsible for high school teachers and the district education officer’s office for primary school teachers.
Measures will be taken to announce the list of those who were promoted to higher positions before the start of the school year as of the next academic year, said the Union minister, adding that Assistant Director and above posts need to seek the approval of the management committee of the ministry and those in the rank of staff officer also need approval of the Union Civil Service Board.
The Union minister then responded to a question regarding the opening of primary schools and the appointment of teachers in Paletwa Township of Chin State, stating that new 49 schools have been opened and 325 contract teachers have been appointed so far in the township this academic year.
