Maritime university holds 10th convocation

The Myanmar Maritime University (MMU) held its 10th graduation in conjunction with a prize ceremony at its convocation hall yesterday.
The Royal Institution of Naval Architects of England offered a RINA Myanmar Shipyard Award plus K100,000 to Maung Htut Khaung, who graduated in Naval Architecture Engineering.
Wealth Ocean International Co. Ltd of Japan offered the Best Marine Engineer Student Prize to Maung Khant Ye Win, who graduated in Marine Mechanical Engineering.
Hutchison Port Holding (Hong Kong) offered a gold medal and US$1,000 to Ma Thit Oo Kyaw, who graduated in Port and Harbour Engineering.
Furuno Electronics Co Ltd of Japan offered Best Nautical Science Student Prize and a one-week excursion to Japan to Maung Htein Lin, who graduated in Nautical Science.
Thome Shipping (Myanmar) Ltd offered Best Marine Electrical System and Electronics Engineering Student Prize to Maung Kyaw Win Naing, who graduated in Marine Electrical Systems and Electronics.
Starhigh Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd offered River and Coastal Engineer Best Student Prize to Ma Hnin Malar Khaing, who graduated in River and Coastal Engineering. The awards were presented to the outstanding students by Deputy Minister for Transport U Han Sein. The Myanmar Maritime University was opened in 2002 and held its first convocation in 2007. The premier university of maritime education in the country has so far produced 3,353 graduates.—Myanmar News Agency
