Manual Metal Arc Welding training course opens

Under the Skills Development for Inclusive Growth program, JFPR-Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, Asia Development Bank and Ministry of Industry have jointly opened short-term Competency-Based Technical and Vocational Education and Training-TVET and short-term Manual Metal Arc Welding-MMAW, mechanic and maintenance of agricultural machinery at the ministry’s training schools in Mandalay and Pakokku.
Under the same program, MMAW training was opened at No.2 Industry Training School in Mandalay on 11 January, with opening addresses by Deputy Director-General U Ko Ko Lwin of the Ministry of Industry and Principal Social Sector Specialist Dr Chris Spohr of the ADB.
Twelve trainees are attending the 12 week-course which will end on 9 April.
Six courses will be opened for four vocational subjects.
To be able to open the training courses, ADB has supported equipment worth K124.094 million. The same course will be opened at No 4 Industry School in Pakokku, with 12 trainiees on 12 January.
