Lt-Gen Ye Aung tours Kyaukpyu, Rakhine State

VICE Chairman of the Central Committee on the Implementation of Peace, Stability and Development of Rakhine State Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung visited Kyaukpyu and Thandwe Townships yesterday.
On his tour of Kyaukpyu Township, the Vice-Chairman, accompanied by Union ministers, the Rakhine State chief minister and officials, met with regional officials and local people at Yamarwady Hall in the township.
Rakhine State development is key to peace and stability and development of the entire nation, said the Vice-Chairman, stressing the need to beware of outside instigation and disturbances in the region.
Calling for adherence to the law to ensure the rule of law, he vowed that people living in the state will be given equal treatment and equality will be brought into force.
The onus is on each and every countrymen to safeguard their national interest, security and sovereignty. Besides every nation is needed to be obliged to respect and follow international laws, norms and standards, said the Union minister, adding that Myanmar is serious about this point.
He emphasised the importance of participation of all in the government’s drive to develop and achieve peace and stability in the region as, he said, the government cannot do it all alone.
If responsible persons and townselders join hands with the government then trust, peace, stability and development can be achieved in Rakhine State within a short period of time, said the Vice Chairman, adding that the country will stand tall as a democracy based on federalism inspired by all citizens.
Next, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, Union Ministers U Kyaw Tint Swe, U Thein Swe, Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Dr Myint Htway and Dr Win Myat Aye elaborated on the undertakings to be implemented in the region by respective ministries.
Then, Union ministers and the party visited IDP camps in Kanyintaw and Kyauktalon, housing for fire victims in Pyinpyumaw village in the township.
During their tour of Thandwe, Union ministers held talks with officials concerned and local people, clarifying matters to be undertaken by the subcommittees concerned to ensure peace, stability and development in Rakhine State.— Myanmar News Agency
