WEAVING training courses are being opened at the weaving training school in Loikaw, Kayah state with the objective of creating job opportunities for locals.
At the training school, the trainees can learn free of charge as the government is providing funds for the running of the courses. There were 13 registered trainees in the first batch during the 2015-2016 fiscal year while there were four students in the second batch. The next training course will start on 1 July for 2016-2017 fiscal year.
The training school, established in 1951, under the name of the basic government weaving training school. In 2014-2015 the name was changed into the loom and livelihood training school to create more opportunities for local youth. The centre is now conducting two kinds of training, namely Myanmar traditional loom and ethnic traditional loom.
