93-YEAR old artist U San Hlaing is exhibiting his works at the Strand Hotel in Yangon from 17 to 18 November.
More than 110 realist paintings depicting Myanmar classic stories are being displayed at the exhibition titled ‘Solo Show of A Classical and Legendary Artist U San Hlaing”.
“The reason that I created these paintings is to conserve the national cultural identity of Myanmar, said U San Hlaing, showing his paintings at the exhibition.
The artist is considered one of Myanmar’s oldest. The inspiration for his works is his memories and feelings.
The artist held his solo show at Jubilee Hall in Yangon in 1956.
He also drew at least thirty to forty illustrations a month until he was 75 years old of age.
At this time U San Hlaing has painted more than 100 water colours and 150 oil paintings.
