A NEW pedestrain overpass across two junctions in Lanmadaw Township is over 80 per cent complete and is expected to open soon, said U Tin Tun Oo, the assistant head of the Road and Bridge Department under the Yangon City Development Committee.
As part of effort to reduce traffic congestion downtown, the current project is being implemented by a private company under the supervision of the YCDC.
The overpass includes four pedestrian ladders facing four directions.
“Currently, we are finalising the construction project as all works are nearly complete,” a project engineer said.
An officer of the YCDC said: “The area around the overpass is crowded, as it is located in downtown Yangon. It is expected to ease traffic congestion to a certain degree after it is totally completed.”
