A PROGRAMME to promote Myanmar arts and handicrafts to attract tourists will be launched in Bagan region with the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
JICA will launch this movement in the name of region-based tourism at three hotels in Nay Pyi Taw to promote the villagers’ handicrafts. JICA is said to promote the production of rattan, bamboo, wood and lacquerware products in Bagan region.
When the tourists become interested in the handicrafts we will launch a promotional campaign, said an official from Bagan Hoteliers Association.
Lacquerware handicrafts are produced from the Bagan towns of Nyaung Oo and Monywa in Sagaing region in Myanmar.
