OFFICIALS of Indawgyi Sanctuary in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, measured Indawgyi Lake using a GPS system on Monday. The findings are that the lake is 67 feet and eight inches at its deepest point.  “The Indawgyi Lake is in better condition than Myanmar’s largest, the Inlay Lake in Shan State,” Warden U Htay Win of the sanctuary said. “With the assistance of international organisations including Fauna & Flora International (FFI), departmental officials are carrying out environmental conservation at Indawgyi Lake. We want to focus on educating local students from schools around the lake to understand the importance of environmental conservation.”
About 20 creeks flow into Indawgyi Lake the year round.
