Illegally cut lumber, vehicles seized in Mabein Township

While launching aarea-clearance operation, government troops seized 944.8 tonnes of illegally cut timber, 13 different kinds of vehicles used in the lumber and forestry industry and other related equipment near the village of Tonekwa in Mabein township, in Northern Shan State, it is learnt.
On 18 and 19 March, government troops launched an area clearance operation 6 ½ miles south east of Tonekwa village, seizing 402 tonnes of teak logs, 537 tonnes of teak timber, nearly one tonne of Tamalan wood, one-and-a-half tonnes of Pitauk wood, and 2 ½ tonnes of Pitauk timber. Also confiscated was one crane, two Yamform-type vehicles, one Foton-type, five three-ground vehicles, four Tonepham-type vehicles, four cutting machines, one generator and two round saws.
Similarly, 147 vehicles used in illegal wood cutting industry were seized in Manweingyi area, it is learnt.  —Myanmar News Agency
