Illegal teak confiscated in Bago

A combined investigative team comprised of police officers and staff from the Forestry Department confiscated illegal teak timber between mileposts 50/2 and 50/3, on the old Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Bago Township on 6 November.
Acting on a tip off, members of the investigative team stopped the vehicle heading for Bago driven by Aung Soe Naing. 27, with Soe Min on board. Upon conducting a search, authorities found 132 illegal teak timbers of different sizes weighing 1.2604 tons worth Ks600,000.
The two suspects are being charged under section 43(A) of the Forestry Act.—Phyo Ko Lin (Nyaung Wine)
