AUTHORITIES have seized 157,250 WY stimulant tablets, worth Ks 471 million, cash and gold items at Kyaingchaung checkpoint in Maungtaw Township on 10 September.
40,000 WY stimulant tablets, Ks 1 million of Myanmar currency notes, two pairs of gold earrings and one gold necklace were confiscated from a Lifan vehicle driven by Aung Kyaw Htay who lives in Threemile Village and U Aye Tun and Ko Ko Win on board at noon on Monday.
Additional 10,000 WY stimulant tablets were seized while searching the motor cycle driven by Hein Soe Thu from the behind of Lifan car, and 157,250 WY stimulant tablets and Ks 780,000 of Myanmar currency notes were confiscated while searching the motor cycle driven by Maung Maung (a) Maung Hla.
The suspects were being investigated. They told that a man from Maungtaw Town (under investigation) asked them to transport the tablets to the junction of Kha Maung Seik Village, with the paid Ks 150,000 per bag.
Police filed charges against them under the Anti-narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—MNA
