INDAW — Paddy harvesting began on a three-acre model farm in Natmahokgale village, Indaw Township, on 15 September.
Palethwe variety seeds were planted on the farm, which is owned by U Thein Ngwe, on 16 June.
“Township Agriculture Department head U Min Aung suggested that we carry out double-cropping during the monsoon season,” said U Thein Ngwe.
Staff of the Katha District Agriculture Department harvested the model paddy farm, collecting 130 baskets per acre, which is equivalent to 208 kilogrammes.
“The department will also urge local farmers to do double cropping for the monsoon paddy next year,” said U Min Aung.—Maung Chit Lin
