A hand-made bomb went off on a road 800 metres off Hkamti town at 4am on 9 September, killing a person on the spot suspected of planting the explosive, local police said.
The police search of the area led to the discovery of four unexploded mines, which police said failed to blow up as the rain wetted them.
“That person used plastic bottles to make bombs, but not systematically. Four mines did not blast. Maybe, their gunpowder was wet in the rain,” a police officer said.
